I had no idea what the Bear Complex was until today, but I quite liked it. HERE is a video to demonstrate.

Bear Complex: 35 lb, 45 lb, 55 lb, and ultimately 65 lbs

Deadlifts: 55 lbs
KB SDHP: 25 lbs
KB: 18 lbs...I couldn’t successfully master the overhead lunge without my arm remaining straight up and keeping form, so...I did OH KB carry without the lunges so that I could work on building my arm/shoulder strength

Time: 9:37

Today’s WOD: “Mini-Murph”
When I mentioned to the coach that the workout looked like a mini Murph, he said it was...hoping to get us ready for the Hero WOD: Murph on Memorial Day. I’m not sure if I will be around that day for a workout or not, but I would be curious to see how I did in comparison to the last time I did it. I know I am nowhere near where I was then...
Man makers: 15lbs DB
Assisted pull ups

Time: 22 minutes

May 1, 2020

We were told that today wasn’t very “Crossfitty” because the WOD was not for time.
My back squats were: 35lb, 45lb, 55lb, 65lb and 75lb
DB Rows used a 15lb DB
I couldn’t do a muscle up so I substituted for 8 assisted pills & 8 ring dips per round
Again, I couldn’t do a handstand walk so I substituted for learning how to kick up into a handstand.
...baby steps...literally!

April 30, 2020

Today was a hiking day with friends and co-workers. We explored a trail about an hour and a half from where I live. We started at about 10am which worked out being a good thing so that we could avoid the heat! The hike was my workout so I skipped xfit.

We worked on throwing our bodies into the handstand position after the WOD...let’s just say I have a mental block to get past! 😬

Motivational Monday

April 27, 2020

Yesterday, the family and I went for about a 2 mile hike through Snow Canyon Park. It was a great rest day and time spent with family!

3 rounds:
400m row - I did 2 rounds of rowing and 1 400m run since the rowers were being used. While waiting for what I thought would be to row, I did about 50 jumping jacks
15 push press with 35lbs barbell + (2) 5lbs plates = 45lbs

Rest 2 mins

Then...
3 rounds:
12 hang cleans (45lbs)
15 sit ups - I wasn’t able to do T2B and I had a sharp pain in my left side (not cramp) trying to do K2B so I did sit ups instead.

Time: 14:21

After the WOD:
10 - 8 - 5 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 1 of bench press
35lbs (10)
45 lbs (8, 5, 5)
55 lbs (3, 2, 2, 1) - I had lots of support here as 55lbs was a struggle!

Picture from the hike (obviously 😜)

Monday Measurements

Sad day, as not much changed from last week. As discouraging as it is, I also know that it takes time to take off what I’ve put on. You can’t expect to see results over night. There was slight change, so that is promising...Besides, if I remember correctly, last time I got into xfit and took measurements, I saw the most change during week 2.

Thigh - 22 1/4” (-1/2”)
Calf - 14 1/4” (+1/4”)
Hips - 41” (+1/2”)
Waist - 30” (-1/4”)
Bust - 35” (N/A)

Weight: 144.7lbs (down by about .6lbs)

April 23, 2020

Believe it or not, today was my first time on the rower, and I really liked it! ❤️ Since the WOD was an EMOM, I wasn’t able to reach 10 calories on the tower before switching stations. Instead, my goal was to go 7-8 calories...
Clean & Jerks using 35lb barbell
KB snatches has to be switched to DB snatches so that I could work on form. I believe the DB was 15lbs
I’m excited to see myself become stronger as I up my workout intensity. I have to keep telling myself that we all begin our journey somewhere, and for me...this is starting over!!

April 21, 2020

Yesterday was my legs; Today my arms.
During 0:00-10:00...
Squat cleans using a 35lb barbell bar and pull ups using a resistance band
During 10:00-22:00...
Power Snatches using a 35lb barbell, KB @ 16lb and in place of HSPU I put my feet on a box and held my position for 20 seconds during each round
During 22:00-32:00
Push Press using the 35lb barbell and completed all the bar over burpees

Afterward, I felt completely dead!!

Measurement Monday (Tuesday)

I’ve typically tried to measure on Monday’s because it makes for a catchy title, but this week happened to be Tuesday...
Yesterday I officially started back with Xfit after about a 5 year break. I know CrossFit works, but it’s a matter of starting all over that makes it hard!

Thigh: 22 3/4”
Calf: 14”
Hips: 40 1/2”
Waist: 30 1/4”
Weight: 145.3lbs

In the last 5 years, I have changed jobs twice, had 2 kids graduate and move out of the house, start and finish my master’s degree, and aged by 5 years! Life has been busy, life has been stressful, and life has brought on the inches and pounds. With time, I know I can shed the weight and feel confident in my skin and clothes again!!
