June’s Challenge

With events relating to work taking place in the morning, and spending time with my 2 teenage kids during the day, I didn’t make it to xfit today. However, I spent the afternoon hiking with 5 teenagers and covered a lot of ground. I also reached my goal for the month by burning over 20,000 calories during the month.

The hike was only about 2 miles total, but we were able to explore caves created by lava. They’re called the Lava Tubes (creative name, right?) and are located inside of Snow Canyon Park.

June 14, 2020 - Aspiration Trail

With my family coming to town for my 40th birthday weekend, we decided to take them on a hike at Aspiration Trail. My 3 young nieces & my 2 kids loved looking at all the painted rocks! ❤️

April 30, 2020

Today was a hiking day with friends and co-workers. We explored a trail about an hour and a half from where I live. We started at about 10am which worked out being a good thing so that we could avoid the heat! The hike was my workout so I skipped xfit.

April 27, 2020

Yesterday, the family and I went for about a 2 mile hike through Snow Canyon Park. It was a great rest day and time spent with family!

3 rounds:
400m row - I did 2 rounds of rowing and 1 400m run since the rowers were being used. While waiting for what I thought would be to row, I did about 50 jumping jacks
15 push press with 35lbs barbell + (2) 5lbs plates = 45lbs

Rest 2 mins

Then...
3 rounds:
12 hang cleans (45lbs)
15 sit ups - I wasn’t able to do T2B and I had a sharp pain in my left side (not cramp) trying to do K2B so I did sit ups instead.

Time: 14:21

After the WOD:
10 - 8 - 5 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 1 of bench press
35lbs (10)
45 lbs (8, 5, 5)
55 lbs (3, 2, 2, 1) - I had lots of support here as 55lbs was a struggle!

Picture from the hike (obviously 😜)

We took a 2.5 mile family hike in town today; Aspiration Trail. The trail is lined with painted rocks so it was fun to check out the scenery along the walk. The kids and I painted about 15 rocks ahead of time and loaded a backpack to drop them off while hiking. I would definitely do this hike again!

Today’s hike was to (and in) an old volcano located at Diamond Valley. Although the hike wasn’t long, there were certainly some steep points that required a little help for the young kids. The cousins enjoyed hiking a volcano and were able to take home a souvenir lava rock!

My whole family came to St George for the weekend and planned several days of hiking in order to enjoy the great outdoors and soak up the sunshine. The kids loved hiking around Dixie Rock, looking for lizards with their uncles Ryan & Jeff.

Kannarraville Falls

YEAH!  We did it!  We hiked Kannarraville Falls again this summer.  This has turned into a yearly family tradition now; one that all my kids enjoy.
I clocked our hike on my app "Map My Run" and it said it ended up being 7.88 miles long.  Last year when I clocked it, it was a little more than 8 miles.  I think the variation was that we parked in the main parking lot instead of down the road a few blocks at the city hall, where parking is free.
Here is my husband and I during the hike.  Check out those rocks!!  Aren't they incredibly beautiful?  I love this hike because it covers trails, roads, streams to wade through, ladders to climb, and shade throughout.  It is also perfect for people of all ages!  My 3 year old niece was with us, and she was a trooper!

Ran 4.43 miles in 41:21
Hike:  8.26 miles

Our family then met up with other family and friends to hike the Kanarraville Falls.  It is a beautiful hike through water, trees, rocks, slot canyon, water falls, etc.  It is on the back side of Zion Canyon if that helps paint the picture on how pretty it is.  A majority of the hike is actually walking through water.  Luckily I didn't see any snakes this time, but they can be seen on this hike.  The final destination are some natural formed rock water slides.  The water was freezing so I didn't do more than walk through it, but my kids enjoyed going down the water slides!  The hike was a total of 8.26 miles round trip.  By the time I got home that afternoon, I was BEAT!!
